We are excited to announce that the Bendigo Law Association and Svenson Barristers are co-hosting a criminal law focused CPD event in Bendigo. The details of the event are as follows: Date: Friday 24 November 2023 – arrival at 8.30am with the presentations commencing at 9am. The event will conclude at 2pm. We note that this is a non-sitting day at the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court. Coffee and tea to be provided on arrival. Morning tea and lunch to be provided courtesy of Svenson Barristers. The presenters are Jim Shaw, Luke McPhie, Jack Kelly, Joh Ollquist, Caitrin Davis and Liam McAuliffe. Further details regarding the topics are included in the attached flyer. Venue: To be held in person in Bendigo. Venue to be confirmed shortly. Cost: Free for Bendigo Law Association members.  Please RSVP by 17 November 2023 Svenson Barristers have been a fantastic supporter of the Bendigo Law Association. The Bendigo Law Association Annual Dinner will be held on 3rd November 2023. This year the Dinner will be held at St Anne's Winery from 6.30 p.m. – 11.00 p.m. Attendance is complimentary for all BLA members (paid and first-year). All paid members have a complimentary attendance for one partner.  Any non-members or first-year member partners must pay a fee of $120 if they wish to attend.  Dinner and drinks are included.  Dress code for the event is formal/cocktail.  St Anne's Winery is located at 3 Belvoir Park Rd, Ravenswood. Due to the location of the venue, we have organised some coaches as a transport option. There are 2 pick-up locations (Central CBD in Sidney Myer Place and Kangaroo Flat train station). The bus will depart Sidney Myer Place at 6pm. There is only a limited number of tickets available for this transport option. The tickets are sold on a first in first served basis. Tickets are $15 per person and provide both to and from transportation. The Digital Library: resources for Victorian lawyers In this 1-hour training session we demonstrate the resources available in the Law Library’s Digital Library. Essential for practitioners who work remotely, hybrid, or outside of the CBD. The Digital Library is free for Victorian lawyers and contains hundreds of legal resources, with curated collections for efficient research. Key authoritative titles will be demonstrated, including databases, eBooks, journals, and reference material. This presentation qualifies for 1 CPD point under Professional Skills.

Young Lawyers Lunch - Lakeview Hotel I have booked lunch at the Lake View Hotel, 204 McRae Street, Bendigo at 1pm on Friday 21 April 2023. Lake View do a lunch special which includes a meal and a drink and thought would be a good idea to have a casual catch up before another bigger event… Could you please let me know if you can make lunch by Wednesday 19 April 2023.  More the merrier, so if there are others at your offices that would like to come, we would love to see them there! As my final event as the Young Lawyers Representative, I have booked the South Bendigo Bowls Club at 5pm on Saturday, 3 December 2022 for a Christmas breakup.  This invitation is extended to all Bendigo Law Assocation members, their partners and children. We have booked the bowls club for some barefoot bowls for whoever wants to play.  There will be a small bar tab and pizza will be provided for dinner. It would be fantastic to see you all there with your families to celebrate the end of another busy year.
