Ceremonial Sitting and Reception for Judge Bender

Dear Members,
We are pleased to invite you to attend a ceremonial sitting and reception for Her Honour Judge Bender on Wednesday 14 May 2025.
Judge Bender will be presiding in the Bendigo sittings of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia during the week commencing 12 May 2025.
This is Judge Bender’s final Bendigo circuit ahead of her retirement.
There will be a ceremonial sitting at the Court at 4:30 pm followed by a reception at Black Swan Hotel.
The reception at Black Swan Hotel is proudly sponsored by Holmes' List, Svenson's List and Foley's List.
Please ensure to RSVP to both the ceremonial sitting and the reception.

Advocacy CPD with Svensons Barristers

The BLA is partnering with Svensons Barristers again to host an in-person Advocacy CPD event.
We are planning 4 CPD sessions to accommodate all experience levels and hopefully an ethics point.

BLA Winery Tour
11:00 AM – 06:00 PM
Come and join the BLA for a fun-filled day of lunch and wine tastings across 3 wineries in the Heathcote region.
The day will begin with the bus departing from Bendigo at 11 a.m. and arriving back at approximately 6.00 p.m.
This is a BLA ticketed event that is open to both BLA members ($20) and non-members ($75). The BLA tickets are subsidised so please ensure that your membership is up to date.
Tickets includes your bus ticket, lunch and wine tastings at each winery.
Tickets are extremely limited. Given the high volume of expression of interests, tickets will likely sell out fast.

2024 Bendigo Law Association Annual Dinner
Chateau Dore Winery & Receptions

The Bendigo Law Association Annual Dinner will be held on Friday 25 October 2024.
This year the Dinner will be held at Chateau Dore from 7.00 p.m.
Attendance is complimentary for all BLA members (paid and first-year). All paid members have a complimentary attendance for one partner.
Any first-year member partners or non-members must pay a fee of $150 if they wish to attend. There is a limited number of these tickets avaliable.
Dinner and drinks are included.
Dress code for the event is formal/cocktail.
Chateau Dore is located at 303 Mandurang Road.
Please ensure you include any dietary requirements when confirming your attendance.
Please RSVP by no later than 4.00 p.m. on Friday 4 October 2022.
Due to the location of the venue, we have organised some coaches as a transport option again this year.
The bus schedule is as follows:
Pickup: leaving Sidney Myer Place at 6:45pm sharp, stopping at Spring Gully Athletics Track.
Dropoff: leaving Chateau Dore at 11:15pm and stopping at the Spring Gully Athletics Track and Sidney Myer Place.
There is only a limited number of tickets available for the bus option. The tickets are sold on a first in first served basis. Tickets are $15 per person and provide both pick up and dropoff service.
If you seek to purchase a bus ticket, be advised that there is a cleaning fee of $200 if the bus is left 'unreasonably soiled' which will be passed on to the relevant passenger if incurred. Any property left on the bus will return with the bus to the Organs Coaches depot and can be collected directly from Organs.

The presenter is barrister Doug Shirrefs. Doug has been at the bar since 2005 and is currently a member of Greens List. Doug has an extensive commercial practice, specialising in franchising law, competition, consumer and regulatory law, and agricultural matters. He is also a nationally accredited mediator.
